Paint! Paint! Paint!

The last 2 weeks we've been painting!!! Correction- last two weeks JOSE has been painting!

I am in love with our painter. He is so good!

Theater room colors. There will be artwork that goes inside the trim work there on the wall. And one on the other side as well.

Hard to tell in this picture but this is after the glaze and antiquing has been done. It looks AWESOME!

These are the kitchen cabinets after being stained.

Stairs after their first coat of stain. One more coat, then poly, then done! Still need the iron railing.

This is our black and white kitchen. Hard to tell with plastic over black part but looks really good! Counter tops next week and those will be Nordic Black antiqued. SO Excited to see the finished product!!!

pa·tience/ˈpāSHəns/ Noun: The capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.

One word describes a homeowner who is building a house.... "patience". You either have it or you quickly learn it to survive!

I love my home and I love the way it is turning out. I just want it to be done N.O.W! I'd say 33 weeks pregnant and 4 weeks out is pretty "patient" if you ask me!?!

I know, I know- no one to blame but myself..... from the kind words of my mother :)

Check out where our patience got us this week....

Upstairs Guest Vanity

Partial kitchen shot.

Entertainment center for den. Antique doors to left will go in center to hide movie theater screen.... I'm sorry... TV

Laundry room filing cabinets. My blue w/d will go under counter in middle. Can't wait for that installation.

Above counter cabinets in laundry

My lovely little nook. AKA office. I'm not complaining perfect for what i need. Convenient and a nice place to stash the ugly papers {and bills} that you don't want to look at often.

Stairs. Obviously. Now just need the railings. Work in progress.... Iron is really expensive FYI to those considering it!

Theater room storage. Screen will go above this. Wait til you see the carpet and colors I've picked out for this room. OMG- never would have thought.... hehe.

His vanity in master math. All the Mr. needs, right!?

Her vanity in master bath. A wee bit more leg room. To be expected.

Nursery vanity. Yes I know- it's small. You'll get over it. I had to. :)

View of kitchen from Den. It will be black and white kitchen!

Trim and Paint

Now that the brick is almost done, we are starting the fun stuff! The trim work and paint! Fun is a loose word here because yes, it's fun, but it's also very stressful because it it doesn't look good or match your SOL.

Front doors are back on!

Her vanity in the master bath. Bones right now.

Back porch fixed doors. The blue primer will be antique white when it's said and done.

Part of the laundry room cabinets.

Kitchen cabinets. Stoves to right, cook top in center.

Other part of kitchen cabinets. Frig on far left. You can see a small corner of the island at bottom.

Trying for an overall picture but wasn't that successful.

Front Exterior after soffits and most of trim is painted. Still a lot to paint like brick and remaining antique white trim.

Sheet rock and Brick

The past couple weeks we've conquered, or should I say, are conquering some big tasks. Sheet rock and brick are on the agenda. And boy do both those subs make a MESS!!!

I hope their mama's taught them how to clean up! Cause that's exactly what their gonna have to do. Oh Mighty Me!!!

Exterior brick portion that will not be painted.

Exterior front.

Our neighbors probably think we're smokin' crack with this turquoise brick. LOL. Little do they know we are painting it. But I want to give them a minor heart attach so I haven't said anything. hehe. Kinda mean, I know, but it's way to much fun this way.  Formal Living where I lost the battle of our ugly/ginormous Caribou.

Future nursery.... needs a lot of help. Hard to imagine it's future innocence when all you see is dirty junk now.

Guest room. Favorite room in the house!

Game room/toy chest/sitting area/go away from mommy and daddy room :)

My lover being a man and cutting down the limbs above fireplace! Very grateful for his lack of fear and persistence!

Entry way. Have an amazing chandelier that will go here. Like I said "M-E-S-S"

Roof on, shingles in, tree down.

Here are some house updates! Chels- this is for you :)

Close up of the front. Entrance to your right. The two windows in center are formal living. A.K.A. Party room.

Insulation in! BTW that stuff STILL hurts. You'd think after all these years they'd find something different to put in so it didn't itch you. Den area. A.K.A. my favorite window room and future home of my favorite curtains and furniture that are patiently waiting in storage.

Work day! I am SO GRATEFUL the boys came over to work. Dad, Jacy, Russell, and Jimmy ROCK! and Steve and Peggy came out to help the RP cover the floors!!! I just don't have a picture. So THANK YOU to them also!

Back of house after a little TLC from the tractor. Leveling ground is a little more tricky and time consuming that one thinks! We're a long way from finishing but this is a good start.

It's beginning to look a lot like.... well.....a house!

Well, well, Ladies and Gents. I do believe we have what is beginning to look like a house.

Some big changes have happened! Check 'em out!

This is the back of the house. Probably my favorite part.

And this is most definitely my favorite view of our house. It's the west view. Where the driveway will be. It shows all the different roof angels and detailing that Jack Arnold is famous for. In Love!

Windows are in today!! Well, the vinyl ones anyway. Can't wait to see them all put up! The steel windows will be here tomorrow!!! CAN NOT wait to see those!

If you're ever in the area come by and I'll show you around our casa! We're proud parents of it! ;)

We have slab!

Yesterday was mine and the Mr.'s 3rd wedding anniversary. And guess what our present was??? (besides the flowers) A SLAB!!!!!

The subs have been working hard all week getting it prepped for the concrete. Take a look.

This picture above is the rebar and trenches found within each engineered foundation. You can also see a little bit of the first floor plumbing that runs through the foundation. The tarp helps keep moisture in that in turn helps keep the foundation set.

Our house is quite long. So here you can kinda see from one end to the other. It's about 90' long.

Framing starts Monday! WHOOP!

A few advances

With a few days of dry weather, we've been able to advance a little on the house. We have now moved up to wood! Lots of wood!

Forms have been set. Then of course, the rain came pouring down Tuesday so guess what we're doing today!?! Waiting!!

Weather looks good for the next week or so, so we are enthusiastic about getting some more accomplished!

Bring it on Jimmy!

Here are some pictures of the forms thus far :)

Rain, rain, go away, come again another day!

I understand that this year has been one of the driest we've experiences in a LONG time. So all this rain we're getting is good, right? WRONG!

When water just sits on the ground rather than being absorbed that means the ground isn't thirsty any more. It doesn't want another drink. So why is it still raining? Why is God forcing the ground to drink? IDK. Maybe He's preparing us for another long-hot-dry- year? Or maybe He wants us to learn a slower pace life? Or maybe He wants Russell and I to put our plans aside and follow His lead?

I'm gonna go with all the above. I hope to heaven we do not have another dry year. I don't think any of the plants or trees or humans can survive it. And I really would love a slower pace life. I'm always telling myself "you don't have to do it all, Katie". And lastly, I ABSOLUTELY know the Mr. and I need to follow the Lord's lead rather than our own. We might 'think' we know what's best for us or when we need something but it is completely out of our hands. And I think this is an example of that.

We haven't had one ounce of rain the whole time we've been talking about building. Then, we close on everything and give our contractor the green light and it can't stop raining. Who would have thunk it!?!

Well, the Lord does know best so we'll see what His timing has in store for us.

Here is the progress thus far:

Culverts are in! Now we have a way to drive across the ditch.

Dirt work. This is the pad for our foundation. A big pile of mud right now! Doesn't look real high from this angle but it's a good 2-3 feet above ground level.

Rockin' and Rollin'

Wahoo! Doors are DONE!

This is how the day started off...

2 days and 3 Lowe's stores later... The doors are jammed out and ready to install!
